Prevent Underground Utility Damage – Call 811 Before You Dig!
Protect yourself and your property by calling 811 before any digging project! Whether you’re planting a tree, installing a fence, or working on a landscaping overhaul, calling 811 is the essential first step to avoiding accidental damage to underground utilities.
Here’s how it works:
- Call 811 or visit your state’s 811 call center website a few business days before you begin digging.
- A professional utility locating service will mark the approximate location of buried utilities with paint or flags. This typically takes up to 3 business days.
- Once the utilities are marked, you can safely dig around them, preventing disruptions to service and potential hazards.
Calling 811 is completely free and can save you from costly repairs, service outages, and even serious injury.
Remember: Always call 811 before you dig!
